The Hollister King Teaching Practices Awards
The Hollister King Teaching Practices Awards were established several years ago in honour of Dr. Hollister King at the time of his retirement from the position of Chief of the Teaching Practices Division. Dr. King was a Family Physician whose roots were in rural practice. He always worked to maintain the highest standards of family medicine. The award is given annually to one resident, nominated by his or her Teaching Practices preceptor, who best exemplifies an outstanding resident working in a teaching practice setting.
Two awards are available through the Teaching Practices Program to honour an outstanding resident working in a teaching practice setting and an outstanding teacher who best exemplifies the ideals of excellence in family medicine in her/his practice style, based on the four Principles of Family Medicine as enunciated by the College of Family Physicians of Canada. These awards were established to honour Dr. Hollister King's steadfast commitment and leadership to the Department's Teaching Practices Program, for almost 25 years.
