Support the Larry Librach Chair in Palliative Care

Located in the Department of Family and Community Medicine, this Chair will assist health care providers with providing quality care for people in need, through education, research, and knowledge-translation, allowing those at the end of life to die with dignity and in comfort. Dr. Lawrence Librach held the W. Gifford-Jones Professor in Pain Control and Palliative Care at the University of Toronto. He also held the position of full professor, as well as Head of the Division of Palliative Care in the Department of Family and Community Medicine.

Support the Dr. Samuel Leitenberg Award for the Humanitarian Practice of Family and Community Medicine

Dr. Leitenberg was a humanitarian in the deepest sense of that word – respected and loved for his clinical expertise, compassion, humility, and unwavering commitment to patient care. The Dr. Samuel Leitenberg Award for the Humanitarian Practice of Family and Community Medicine has been established by family, friends, and colleagues to honour his life’s work and to inspire future family physicians.

Dr. Barnett & Beverley Giblon Professorship in Family Medicine Research

Dr. Barnett Giblon is a long standing professor in the DFCM. He always recognized the importance of research. In 1999, he and his wife Beverley, instituted The Dr. Barnett and Beverley Giblon Professorship in Family Medicine Research. 

This professorship supports an outstanding Family Medicine scholar. The scholar demonstrates leadership and vision. The scholar achieves their best practice through effectiveness, equity and education.

Dr. Harris Waddington Fellowship in Family and Community Medicine

This fellowship is awarded to graduate students in the DFCM. Selection is based on merit. Financial need is also considered.  

Bram and Bluma Appel Global and International Health Fellowships Fund

This funding is for an MD graduate in a PGY3 Global Health residency.
