MPH-Advanced Standing (FCM)

Master of Public Health, Family and Community Medicine

Are you interested in obtaining a full MPH in half the time with half the course load?

In collaboration with the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, DFCM Academic Fellowship and Graduate Studies is excited to continue to offer the Advanced Standing (AS) stream of their Master of Public Health, Family and Community Medicine (MPH (FCM)) degree program for Fall 2023 admissions. This is still a relatively new program, only in its fourth year of enrolment.

As an enhancement of the interface between public health and primary care clinical practice, the MPH-AS (FCM) program offers physicians licensed in Canada advanced standing, enabling them to complete the 2-year MPH(FCM) program in 1 year if enrolled full time and in 3 years if enrolled part time.

This uniquely tailored option is designed for primary care physicians involved in identifying emerging public health problems and health promotion, looking to enhance their knowledge of public health and system leadership. The program prepares graduates for career advancement in academic and community settings, both in primary care and public health.

In addition, medical residents and clerks currently enrolled in Canadian training, who have acquired significant competence in public health concepts during their training, are strongly encouraged to apply.

Applications for the 2023-24 academic year will open October 17th, 2022 and close January 18th, 2023. Click below to apply.

Through core course and Practicum requirements, the Master of Public Health degree provides a solid grounding in public health, giving physicians the comprehensive academic knowledge and leadership skills to become effective educators, scholars and leaders in community-oriented primary clinical care. The program is flexible, available on a full time or part time basis and allows learners to explore areas of special interest through electives.

Program Directors should encourage developing and established faculty to consider applying to the MPH-AS(FCM) Program as a means of career advancement and building site/program capacities.
