We're an easy-going group of 13 physicians, including a pediatrician, a visiting endocrinologist and a GP psychotherapist. Family physicians are remunerated through a FHO capitation model. Each of us has our own unique practice, balancing our work in family medicine with other special interests, including ER, hospitalist, retirement/nursing home, palliative care, skin disorders, surgical assist, MSK, women’s health, travel medicine, etc. Some of us also teach medical learners including FM residents, and have been mentoring for years.
Uxbridge is a growing, picturesque town about a 25-minute drive north of Pickering and about 50 minutes from Toronto. You can set up your turn-key practice in our state-of-the-art medical building, steps from Uxbridge Hospital, affiliated with Oak Valley Health. Our emergency room and ward are run predominantly by family physicians.
Our support staff includes nurses and administrative staff with hearts of gold! We also have a well-established network of interprofessional healthcare providers to support our patients, including in-house pharmacists, registered dietician, midwives, physiotherapists, etc (all within a 5-10 minute vicinity).
Job description:
Successful candidates must hold an MD degree and College of Family Physicians of Canada certification in family medicine (or equivalent) and be eligible for licensing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
There is a strong preference for family physicians who can practice comprehensive family medicine. We offer locum opportunities for interested candidates.
