Division of Mental Health and Addiction

The DFCM Division of Mental Health and Addiction (DMHA) is the academic home of family physicians engaged in work to support the mental health of our communities.

Our Division has the following priorities:

  1. Support a cohesive academic program in mental health and addiction by encouraging primary mental health care, undergraduate and post-graduate medical education, continuing professional development, quality improvement, and research in the areas of mental health and addictions.
  2. Establish an identifiable community of practice among faculty and learners across all DFCM sites.
  3. Champion mental health and addiction care with a strong focus on access, stigma reduction, medical home, and shared care.

This month, I had the honour of addressing the MD class of 2024 at their convocation ceremony. For graduates, this occasion celebrates the completion of a significant chapter in a lifelong story. So, as we mark the end of another academic year and our residents celebrate the completion of residency, I would like to share it with you also.
