Beginning Your Graduate Studies

T-Cards

All graduate students are required to have a T-Card, which serves as your student photo ID and library card. To obtain a T-Card, bring your Offer of Admission, photo ID and proof of citizenship to the TCard Office. For hours of operation and additional information, please visit the TCard Office website.

UTORid

The UTORid is the username (and password) used to sign in to a number of different services offered by the University. You will receive instructions on how to activate your UTORid when you obtain your T-Card. We strongly recommend that you set up your password recovery options during this activation process.

Email

During the UTORid activation process, you are given the opportunity to set up a University of Toronto email address. We encourage you to use this email for communications with the program.

Campus Wireless Access

All students with active UTORids should be able to connect to the University's wireless network while on campus. For information on how to access this network, please visit the Information Commons website.

ACORN

ACORN is the University's student information system. You can use this service to manage course enrolments, check tuition fees and update your contact information. Students are responsible for ensuring that their information is correct and up-to-date.

Quercus

Quercus is the University's the new Learning Management Engine which allows you to access materials and resources for the courses they are enrolled in.

AFGS Online Community

The AFGS Community is our program space where all pertinent information — resources, announcements, deadlines, events, etc. — will be posted. You can also use this space to discuss issues, throw around ideas and pass on interesting information. We encourage you to post and respond to any messages during your time with us.
