Mentors’ Canyon

Watch a narrative vignette which highlights a successful mentor-mentee pair from DFCM. Through video interviews, our mentor-mentee pairs share their stories, lessons learned and the impact of mentoring relationships. We will post new interviews every few months.

Successful Paths to Senior Promotion from a Mentorship Lens - Panel Event (October 17, 2023)

This virtual panel event was led by Dr. Viola Antao (DFCM Faculty Mentorship Lead), who gave a brief introduction to DFCM Mentorship and our promotion-focused initiative. Faculty presenters included: Drs. Joyce Nyhof-Young, Farhan Asrar and Harvey Blankenstein, who have all successfully completed the senior promotion process. Each presenter gave a brief overview of their promotions journey and how mentorship informed the process. This was followed by a live Q&A period. Finally, Ms. Sarah Letovsky (Academic Promotions Coordinator, DFCM) provided information on available resources and the promotion process.

Mentorship for Career Planning - First Five Years - Panel Event (June 1, 2023)

Are you in the first five years of practice and have questions about how to navigate this transition optimally? This panel event focuses on mentorship for new family medicine graduates.

Get inspired and gain valuable insights from our esteemed panelists, Drs. Stephanie Zhou, Alan Monavvari and Shelby Jaeranny. Each panelist briefly shares an overview of their experience and tips navigating this transition and the development of their practice.

Successful Paths to Promotion from a Mentorship Lens - Panel Event (August 9, 2022)

This event was led by Dr. Viola Antao (DFCM Mentorship Lead), who gave a brief introduction to DFCM Mentorship and our new promotion-focused initiative. Dr. David White (Vice-Chair, Family Doctor Leadership and Member of the Department Promotions Committee (DPC)) also provided a brief introduction.

Dr. Eisen was promoted to Associate Professor in 2021 and can provide tips on leadership and insights on the teaching with a waiver of external review process.
