Clinical (MD) Faculty Appointment Renewal

Clinical Adjunct and Part-Time (MD) Appointments are 1-year terms with renewable end dates, as detailed in the letter of offer sent to each faculty member at the time of appointment. Each year, the Temerty Faculty of Medicine requires each Adjunct or Part Time Clinical faculty member to renew their appointment by completing a brief online, self-declared activity report on their academic activity from the past year.

CLINICAL ADJUNCT AND PART-TIME RENEWAL PROCESS

  • Faculty receive an email request at the beginning of March with a link to complete the online activity report.
    • If you have not received this request by April, please contact dfcm.facultyappt@utoronto.ca to ensure that your contact information is up-to-date in our records.
  • This activity report is an online process that takes 5-10 minutes to complete.
  • Faculty may request to renew their term by completing the report or choose to decline re-appointment.
  • Once faculty complete the report, they will receive a confirmation email with a copy of their completed report in PDF form, as well as a statement that unless otherwise contacted, their appointment is renewed for a new term beginning July 1, and ending on June 30 of the following year.
  • There is no obligation for renewal of this appointment and any renewal offered will be at the discretion of the Department Chair and the Site Chief/Program Director/Division Head. 

Status Only and Adjunct (Non-MD) Renewal

Status Only faculty in the DFCM can hold appointments with terms of 1-5 years. Adjunct (non-MD) faculty can hold an appointment for a term of 1-3 years. These faculty members are required to submit self-declared annual review reports each year of their term to ensure the continuation of their academic activity. In the final year of their term, they are required to complete a self-declared re-appointment report if they wish to renew their DFCM appointment for another term provided they still meet the criteria for appointment.

STATUS ONLY & ADJUNCT (Non-MD) RENEWAL PROCESS

  • Faculty receive an email request at the beginning of March with a link to complete the online activity report.
    • The email will indicate whether it is an annual review or request for re-appointment (end the end of term).
    • If you have not received this request by April, please contact dfcm.facultyappt@utoronto.ca to ensure that your contact information is up-to-date in our records.
  • This activity report is an online process that takes 5-10 minutes to complete.
  • Once faculty complete the report they will receive a confirmation email with a copy of their completed report in PDF form.
  • Status Only and Adjunct (non-MD) faculty that are re-appointed for a new term will receive a new letter of offer by email.
