Division of Palliative Care

DFCM's Division of Palliative Care is a community dedicated to enhancing medical education in palliative care and leading change at the system level across Canada.

With demographics in Canada shifting toward a larger aging population, family physicians will be faced with patients increasingly in need of quality palliative care. That’s why DFCM and the Division of Palliative Care work to introduce family medicine students to palliative care early in their medical education, and provide many learning components throughout their postgraduate family medicine training.

Throughout the pandemic, you – family doctors, residents, students, primary care providers, researchers, educators, advocates, leaders and support staff – have achieved incredible things. I cannot thank you enough for the ways in which you make our department and our discipline proud, and I know your colleagues, learners and patients would say the same.
