Humber River Health (HRH) is a prominent 1.8 million square foot, fully-digital acute care facility in Canada, equipped with state-of-the-art technology and catering to a wide range of medical needs. It serves a population of over 850,000 individuals residing in the northwest Greater Toronto Area. HRH operates 656 acute inpatient beds at the Wilson site, 34 beds at Church Campus and 32 beds at Finch Campus, with over 4000 staff, approximately 800 physicians and over 1,000 volunteers. HRH also includes the Reactivation Care Centres (RCCs) at the Finch and Church Campuses which represent a unique partnership among multiple hospitals in the GTA with a focus on delivery of specialised care with the focus on reactivation to patients who have been designated as Alternative Level of Care.

We have developed advanced patient flow and care monitoring tools supported by the Command Centre, enabling us to use real-time data feeds from across the Hospital to improve patient flow, patient safety and outcomes.

MEDICAL LEAD, FAMILY MEDICINE OB

Position Summary

Reporting to the Chief of the Department of Family and Community Medicine and the Medical and Program Director of Maternal & Child, the Medical Lead of Family Medicine OB provides strategic leadership and oversight of the obstetrical cases managed by Credentialed Staff in the Department of Family and Community Medicine, ensuring high-quality patient care and safety.

The Medical Lead will align the Family Medicine OB Division's goals with the overall Maternal & Child Program direction and in consultation with the Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology, manage the operational, financial and human resources of the Division.

The Medical Lead will advance the collaborative work of developing a sustainable clinical model that will grow Family Medicine OB volumes, attract new Division members and improve the patient experience. The Medical Lead will work with the education and academic leadership at HRH and the University of Toronto to continue to advance the quality of learning opportunities in Family Medicine OB at HRH.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate is expected to fulfill a broad range of duties and responsibilities, including, but not limited to the following:

  • Engage in strategic planning to develop and execute a comprehensive plan for Family Medicine OB as a Division;
  • Implement and monitor quality improvement and patient safety initiatives, using data to drive decisions and improve outcomes continuously;
  • Standardize clinical processes and practices within the Family Medicine OB Practitioners to improve care delivery, targeting specific improvements in patient care metrics;
  • In partnership with the Chief, manage physician resourcing to ensure appropriate clinical coverage;
  • Develop and maintain internal and external partnerships with other divisions, departments, and external partners to facilitate comprehensive care for obstetrical patients and their newborns and address systemic health challenges; and
  • Participate in management of patient relations concerns & follow-up actions
