Job description:

Women’s College Hospital invites applications for the Atkinson Chair in Women’s Health Research. Women’s College Hospital (WCH) is an academic, ambulatory hospital, fully affiliated with the University of Toronto. Women’s College Hospital embraces the bold concept of healthcare as a human right and strives for equitable access, quality, and care outcomes especially with consideration to sex, gender in health.

The successful applicant must be eligible for an academic appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor at the University of Toronto. We are seeking a scientist (PhD or equivalent or clinician scientist from any health discipline) with an innovative research program focused on Women’s Health, specifically life stages impacting older women such as peri-menopause and menopause.

Candidates must hold a PhD or MD with advanced research training (e.g. MSc, MPH, PhD) in a field related to women’s health.

Candidates will have demonstrated a strong track record of excellence in research that is clearly aligned with the strategic goals of Women’s College Hospital. This individual will be a catalyst for multi-disciplinary collaborations within the hospital (clinicians and scientists), the University of Toronto, across Canada and internationally. We seek candidates whose research and clinical interests complement and strengthen our existing strengths. Candidates will have a developing or advanced international reputation and the demonstrated ability to significantly advance the field internationally.

The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate and maintain a competitive and externally funded research program, and to sustain and lead an innovative, independent and inclusive program of scholarship that emphasizes community building and partnerships both within and outside the hospital.

The successful candidate must have a successful record of publications in top-ranked and field relevant journals in their area of expertise, awards and accolades, other noteworthy activities that contribute to the visibility and prominence of the discipline.

Experience and demonstrated interest in the development of novel tools and methods for women’s health data collection, analysis, and knowledge translation are also a requirement. The applicant should have demonstrated experience working with other health scholars and mentoring trainees. An important facet of the position is to build research capacity in women’s health especially through collaboration, training and mentorship.

The candidate will be expected to: sustain and lead an outstanding, robust, active, independent, innovative, externally-funded research program at the international level; take an active role in teaching and mentoring students; collaborate with colleagues and other university departments, partners, and the community; and be committed to equity, diversity and inclusion.
