Life cycle assessment is an internationally-standardized approach for quantifying the environmental impacts (energy and materials) associated with the entire life-cycle (e.g. production through disposal) of a given product, process, or service. This can be useful in choosing medical equipment or pharmaceuticals with lower impact. e.g. what is the environmental impact of a disposable laceration tray vs a re-usable one.
