Job description:
The Division of Mental Health and Addiction (DMHA) Faculty Relations and Development Lead will be responsible for leadership and coordination of a broad range of faculty relations and development activities designed to advance a sense of community and support faculty development within the DMHA Division.
The DMHA Faculty Relations and Development Lead will provide leadership in implementing and disseminating DFCM central faculty development (FD) experiences relevant to DMHA members (e.g. promotions, awards, funds). Increase sense of community among existing DMHA faculty through an enhanced communications strategy for DMHA members and targeted recruitment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish and lead a DMHA portfolio in faculty development (FD) including representation and communication between DFCM FD Committee and DMHA Executive
- Assess the need for new FD opportunities and if needed to support the development of these FD initiatives
- Identify and communicate existing FD opportunities to the DMHA membership
- Support twice-yearly Division submissions for awards and lead a DMHA Awards Committee
- Create a communications strategy in coordination with DFCM communication, including curating a monthly newsletter with regular updates from the DMHA
- In partnership with DFCM Wellness Lead, explore supporting a Balint group for DMHA and other faculty members
- Participate in an annual performance review process with the DMHA Head
Required qualifications
The ideal candidate will have certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada and must be eligible for academic appointment at the level of Lecturer (or eligible for promotion to) Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. They will possess excellent leadership, communication, organizational and team building skills, a proven ability to work well with others, and a strong commitment to students and faculty. The candidate will have an excellent understanding of faculty development current best practices and demonstrate interest in engaging in scholarly activities relating to family medicine Faculty Development. The DMHA Faculty Relations and Development Lead will have a strong vision for the development of innovative.
Committees:
- Chair DMHA Awards committee
- Member, DMHA Executive Committee
- Serve as the link to the DFCM FD program by representing the DMHA at DFCM FD Committee meetings as required:
- Provide information about DMHA FD and facilitate sharing of information between sites/divisions
- Provide information to the DFCM FD Committee about DMHA FD and needs
Supports
Administrative support will be provided by DFCM Divisions Administrator
Reporting Responsibility
The DMHA Faculty Relations and Development Lead will report to the Head of the Division of Mental Health and Addiction.
Appointment
- The position will be funded for one-half day every two weeks, $10,000 per annum
- This is a three-year term, renewable with an annual performance review with the DMHA Head. This role will be reviewed after 1 year to assess the role and responsibilities.
