Description:

Essence is a longitudinal interprofessional 1-year (0.5 FCE) course spread over 2 academic terms that supports and mentors a small group of Faculty to complete an Education Scholarship (ES) project of their own choosing. The course outline is based on Glassick’s criteria for Scholarship and contains expert run seminars, structured homework assignments, mentorship and consultations with education scientists and clinician educators.  

Objectives:

  • To develop basic competencies in Education Scholarship (ES)
  • To advance/produce a protocol for a scholarly project
  • Create a community of practice amongst participants and support their roles as educators

Format:

Hybrid: Combination of synchronous online and in-person sessions.

There are no formal course prerequisites. However, course assignments require clinical health care background  and/or experience with patient-provider relationship.
