Brain Stimulation and Dementia: Exploring the Current Landscape Through Diverse Perspectives

This Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, we invite you to help us spread the word about an exciting virtual panel hosted by the Alzheimer Society of Toronto, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, and the Toronto Dementia Research Alliance.

This plain-language event is open to everyone, including clinical and research communities, people with lived experience, community organizations, and beyond. It’s an excellent opportunity to engage with and inform diverse audiences about the potential of brain stimulation for dementia care.

What’s it about?
Brain stimulation—using electrical or magnetic signals to influence brain activity—holds promise for reducing dementia symptoms, slowing cognitive decline, and improving care. With current Alzheimer’s treatments offering limited effectiveness and significant side effects, the need for new and safer options has never been greater.

What attendees will learn:

  • Types of brain stimulation, their benefits, risks, and limitations
  • The latest research and how to get involved
  • Insights from a brain stimulation research participant

The panel will also include opportunities to engage with speakers and ask questions.
