Deadline: Harinder K Gaind Bending the Arc Award
Harinder K. Gaind was a distinguished educator who immigrated from India to Canada with her young family in the 1970s, who taught grace, dignity and integrity through her advocacy, and her example, even when facing challenges and disparities common to many immigrant experiences. This award was established by her family in 2022 to honour her memory, and to recognize a Faculty of Medicine member who has demonstrated Harinder’s values by having impactfully bent the arc towards biopsychostructural justice in mental health.
The award will be given to faculty members who have demonstrated significant impact in the area of biopsychostructural justice in the mental health system. The recipient will present their work through a grand rounds or other type of lecture.

Eligible recipients: Faculty from the Department of Psychiatry, the Department of Family Medicine, or the Department of Medicine
Award amount: $2,000
Criteria and nomination process
The award will be given to faculty members who have demonstrated significant impact in the area of biopsychostructural justice in the mental health system, and criteria will include an assessment of the effort invested and the positive impact achieved by their work.
Applicants will be asked to submit a supporting testimonial letter attesting to their impact from a colleague or person familiar with their work (the colleague is not required to be a member of the Faculty), an updated CV, and a letter describing their work as it matches the award criteria and a brief outline for their proposed presentation. Please only submit the above documents; additional documents will not be considered.
