Waddington Research Fellowships: Virtual drop-in session with Q&A

To assist applicants of the Waddington Research Fellowship Awards, there will be a virtual drop-in session with Q&A about the Waddington Fellowships on Thursday August 20, 2026, 12:00-1:00 p.m. If you are interested in attending this session, please email the Associate Director, Research Program (tara.watson@utoronto.ca).

The purpose of the two Waddington Fellowship Awards is to provide protected time for DFCM faculty at community-based sites with demonstrated strong interest in and commitment to research, with the goals to develop their core research skills and capacity through engagement in mentored research activities, and, ultimately, to develop their own research capacity and future independent research programs.

For each position, DFCM will contribute $20,000 annually for up to 2 years to protect 40% of the faculty member’s time for research. To be eligible, each position must also receive enhanced matched funding from their site Chief/Department Head or an external source (e.g., peer-reviewed or non-peer-reviewed salary award from an agency, operating grants that allow salary support) or a combination of funding sources. Funding by commercial for-profit agencies (e.g., pharmaceutical, technology) are ineligible.
