Organization Description:

The Freeman Centre for the Advancement of Palliative Care offers comprehensive consultation and follow-up care for patients with a life-limiting illness. Palliative and supportive care is provided by an inter-professional team who work with a patient’s other healthcare providers, including their family doctor. We are affiliated with the Division of Palliative Care, Department of Family and Community Medicine, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto. Inter-professional teaching of undergraduate medical students and postgraduate residents and fellows and a faculty appointment are requirements of the position.

Job Description:

The Freeman Centre for the Advancement of Care at North York General Hospital is seeking a part-time 0.6 FTE (3 days/week) palliative care physician to work in an inpatient practice/share complementary position with an existing 0.4 FTE (2 days /week) palliative care physician to create a 1.0 FTE practice beginning July 1, 2025. The anticipated duration of this position at this time is 6 months (to December 31, 2025) with possible extension beyond this period.

Dr. Sandy Buchman, Freeman Chair and Medical Director invites qualified applicants to apply for this position. Clinical duties include inpatient consultations, follow-up ongoing inpatient care, and on-call responsibilities, with a possible opportunity to include ambulatory clinic and outreach responsibilities in the future as demand dictates. All new hires have a probationary period as a clinical associate.

Required qualifications:
Candidates must have a valid Ontario medical license, CFPC (PC) or RCPSC certification in Palliative Medicine and active CMPA membership.
