MD Program Professional Standards Curriculum Theme Lead position
Location: Temerty Medicine- MD Program
Closing date: April 14, 2025, 10am
The MD Program Professional Standards Curriculum Theme Lead, will report directly to the Associate Dean, MD Program, and work collaboratively with the Professional Standards Remediation Lead, Foundations Directors, Clerkship Directors, and Theme Leads. The Theme Lead will constitute and chair an Advisory Committee to advise in the design, development, integration, implementation, and evaluation of the relevant curricular competencies. The time commitment for this position is equivalent to approximately 1 day per week.
Role Description:
The MD Program Professional Standards Curriculum Theme Lead is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of composite curricular elements in the MD Program to develop competencies in: (1) achieving professional standards; (2) medical ethics; and (3) medical jurisprudence. Educational outcomes will align with the professional standards set by the MD Program, the University of Toronto, and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Our graduates are expected to demonstrate the professional judgment and behavior that the profession demands, reflecting the public's expectations of physicians. Specifically, the words and actions of physicians should foster trust and respect among patients, colleagues, and the public. The time commitment for the Professional Standards Curriculum Theme Lead is equivalent to one day per week.
Leadership and Organization:
The incumbent will report to the Associate Dean, MD Program, and work collaboratively with the Professional Standards Remediation Lead, Foundations Directors, Clerkship Directors, and Theme Leads. The Theme Lead will constitute and chair an Advisory Committee to advise in the design, development, integration, implementation, and evaluation of the relevant curricular competencies. This Committee is to be composed of relevant Course Director(s), other faculty members with responsibilities for elements of ethics and professional standards within the MD Program, representatives of the Academies, administrative staff, learner representatives, and others who have substantial engagement in this area.
