New research chairs appointed at Women’s College Hospital

We are pleased to celebrate Dr. Noah Ivers’ recently awarded Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Implementation of Evidence-based Practice, effective October 2019. The Canada Research Chair Program aims to make Canada one of the world’s top countries in research and development by attracting and retaining a body of diverse and exceptional researchers.
Dr. Ivers is a scientist at Women’s College Research Institute(WCRI), innovation fellow at the Women’s College Hospital Institute for Health System Solutions and Virtual Care(WIHV), clinician scientist in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto and family physician at Women’s College Hospital (WCH). He has a reputation for rigorous, applied research that helps put evidence into practice with over 150 publications in peer-reviewed journals.
As a Canada Research Chair, Dr. Ivers will continue to lead a research program in implementation science that designs, tests and evaluates evidence-based, patient-centred interventions that improve the quality of patient care. He is a world-leading expert in using routinely available data to measure quality of care and sending the results back to healthcare professionals, teams and organizations to promote quality improvement. This expertise combined with strong stakeholder relationships across the country and around the world make him ideally suited to this role – particularly in supporting the spread and scale of these innovative approaches.
With the acceptance of Dr. Ivers’ Canada Research Chair appointment, Dr. Aisha Lofters has been announced as the new Chair in Implementation Science at Women’s College Hospital, also effective October 2019. Dr. Lofters is an accomplished PhD trained family physician whose research focuses on health equity in cancer screening and prevention for marginalized populations. She is a clinician scientist and associate professor at the University of Toronto in the Department of Family & Community Medicine.
