Job description:

Under the strategic direction of the Manager, Health Services, the Primary Care Physician (Physician) functions interdependently with staff to provide shared, client-centered care that emphasizes health promotion, disease prevention and client education. The Primary Care Physician collaborates with Nurse Practitioners, Allied Health Providers, and community-based services and agencies to provide primary health care for our clients. The Primary Care Physician practices according to the Standards of Practice of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) and to guidelines and policies established at Vibrant.

In collaboration with Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre Department of Family and Community Medicine, we are looking for a Physician with an interest in medical education. This position will include regular supervision of residents and medical students.

In this role, you would contribute to an integrated team-based model focused on creating impactful care pathways and setting new standards in client care. You will be pivotal in fostering an inclusive healthcare setting where equity-deserving people, including people with physical disabilities, older adults and people who use drugs experience the highest quality access to care. Hourly/half-day rate: $182.40/hour

Required qualifications: 

  • License to practice medicine and membership in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)

  • Doctor of Medicine degree from a recognized university

  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in a primary care setting, community based preferred

  • Experience working with seniors and/or people with physical disabilities an asset

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team environment

  • Understanding of the social, environmental and economic determinants of health

  • Knowledge of harm reduction practices and Independent Living philosophy considered an asset

  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and effective oral/written communication skills

  • Proficiency in the use of computers and various software applications, including experience using Electronic Health Record Systems (EHRs)

  • Experience using PS Suite is an asset

  • Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with our diverse clientele and across all levels of the organization
