The boundaries of providing quality health care are expanding. Clinical professionals are expected to take central roles in promoting healthy behavior and lifestyles. Understanding an individual's values, beliefs and health priorities increases the chance that a behavior change goal will be successful and then maintained. A client-centered approach is critical to enhancing and deepening this understanding.
Objectives:
At the end of this course you will have ...
- A framework for teaching and learning a patient-centered clinical interview
- Be able to list key concepts commonly used in behavior change, solution focused and cognitive behavioral therapy.
- Be able to describe the process of change.
- Be able to describe how to organize/structure a behavior change consultation.
- Be able to describe key teaching principles related to teaching and learning behavior change.

Evaluation:
Short Paper -15%
Presentation - 25%
Participation - 10%
Long Paper - 50%
