Job Description:

The Undergraduate Education Program Director will be responsible for the leadership, coordination, evaluation and advancement of all aspects related to undergraduate family medicine education at U of T. This responsibility includes oversight of all activities related to preclerkship and clerkship curriculum design and delivery, assessment and remediation, faculty recruitment and development, faculty and student awards, and student leadership and engagement. The Program Director will lead and support scholarly initiatives in education that study and promote the best educational practices in family medicine undergraduate education. The activities of the Program Director are to be carried out in alignment with the strategic plan of the department.

The Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate will have certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada and possess excellent leadership, communication, organizational and team-building skills, a proven ability to lead and work well with others and a strong commitment to students and faculty. The candidate will be aware of present and future health system trends and needs and possess knowledge of the current best practices in family medicine undergraduate training. The candidate will present a strong vision for the development of innovative undergraduate education programs that will best prepare our graduates for future roles as physicians with an appreciation for the role of the family physician in the Canadian health-care system. The candidate will demonstrate an interest in engaging in scholarly activities relating to family medicine undergraduate education. The candidate will have relevant experience as both a clinician who provides comprehensive care and as an educator. The candidate will have attained a stature eligible for appointment at U of T at the rank of assistant professor. The candidate will be strongly committed to the principles relating to equity, diversity, inclusion, Indigeneity and accessibility.
