Enhanced Skills Program: Low Risk Obstetrics

The Low Risk Obstetrical Program is a three-month clinical program aimed at providing additional experience to trainees committed to including obstetrics in their future practices. This program offers opportunities for self-directed learning with s strong, immersive focus on labour and delivery where graduates should expect to increase their competence in managing patients in triage and on the labour and postpartums floors. 

Successful applicants are internally matched after providing a list ranking their top choices of location and timing.

N.B.: Those enrolled in a PGY3 Enhanced Skills Program at the time of application are NOT eligible to apply to another PGY3 Enhanced Skills position.

Sample Rotation

3 months at selected location. Current training sites include (but not limited to):

  • Markham-Stouffville Hospital
  • North York General Hospital
  • St. Joseph's Hospital
  • Scarborough Health Network
  • Michael Garron Hospital

Unique Program Requirements

Certification in ALARM and NRP strongly encouraged prior to rotation. At some locations, residents may be expected to present at rounds.
