New Horizons: A Conversation with Mayor Olivia Chow
Join us on Friday, November 24 as we welcome Toronto Mayor, Olivia Chow, to discuss the future of healthcare and how family doctors and other clinicians can work more closely with the City of Toronto to ensure safe, accessible care for all.
The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Danielle Martin, DFCM Chair.
Mayor Olivia Chow
Olivia Chow is the 66th Mayor of Toronto, the first person of Asian descent to serve as Mayor, and the first woman since the six municipalities of Metro Toronto were amalgamated into one in 1998.
In 2023, building on a long history of activism and community organizing, Olivia Chow ran for and won election as Mayor of Toronto, pledging to build a more affordable, safe, and caring city where everyone belongs.
Throughout her career, Mayor Chow has been driven by the belief that we are always stronger together.
About the New Horizons speaker series
New Horizons is a speaker series hosted by Dr. Danielle Martin, Chair of the University of Toronto Department of Family and Community Medicine, the largest academic department of family medicine in the world.
In each session, a wise interprofessional colleague will provide a fresh perspective on the role of family physicians in a changing world and challenge us to consider what a community responsive department of family medicine should be aiming for.
