Research summary:
Jennifer Shuldiner's research strengthens team-based primary care by designing, implementing, and evaluating models that improve access, attachment, continuity, and equity. As an embedded scientist within the Women's College Hospital Family Health Team, she works alongside clinicians and patients to co-design, test, and refine innovative ways of working together, including task shifting, new team roles, and workflow redesign. She has studied high-performing "bright spot" primary care teams to learn what enables strong access, attachment, and continuity, and over the coming years will extend this work across Ontario, translating those lessons into practical guidance for teams working to expand capacity and attach more patients. Within DFCM, Dr. Shuldiner serves as Evaluation Lead with the Office of Health System Partnership, where she supports the department and its affiliated clinics through quality improvement and shared learning across academic and community practices. Her program also spans the evaluation of interprofessional primary care team expansion and workforce optimization, including national research on Medical Office Assistants. Related streams examine the integration of community pharmacy into primary care and the responsible adoption of digital tools.
