Packing for Toronto in May

Weather:

Expect cool, comfortable temperatures — typically ranging from 10°C to 20°C (50°F to 68°F). Mornings and evenings can be a bit cool, while afternoons are often warmer. Occasional spring showers are possible, so it’s a good idea to pack an umbrella or light rain jacket.

What to Wear:

  • Layers are key: think light sweaters, long-sleeved shirts, and a medium jacket.
  • Comfortable shoes are a must, especially if you’ll be walking or exploring the city.
  • A scarf or light accessory can come in handy for cooler evenings.
  • For any formal or evening events, business casual or smart casual attire is usually appropriate.

Getting Around

Public transit is reliable: use the TTC (Toronto Transit Commission) subway, streetcars, and buses to get around. Tap your credit card or use a PRESTO card.

Walking and rideshare-friendly city — Uber, Lyft, and local taxis are available.
