Applying to Continuing Education Programs

Admission Requirements

  • Applicants must be licensed in a regulated health profession and currently practicing in their fields
  • For the Clinical Research Certificate only, Internationally-trained Family Physician or General Practitioner applicants with a minimum of one year of clinical practice and who are residents in Canada, but who do not hold a license to practice in Canada, are eligible to apply for 2021 term starts.

  • Proof of English Language Proficiency must be established by all applicants from countries where the official language is not English, a university education in English may not be considered sufficient

To apply to any of our Continuing Education Programs, please supply the following:

  • Application Form 
  • Application Form (UofT DFCM PGY3 Enhanced Skills applicants only should complete this application form)
  • Letter of Intent  ( A reflective statement of intent, no more than 1000 words, that outlines your goals and personal learning objectives to be pursued during the program. The letter should indicate how you plan to apply what you learn from the program and how this will help you achieve your career gaols. The letter should include a brief description of a proposed practicum project.)
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Other supporting documentation as outlined in the Application Checklist

International applicants must also supply the following documentation:

  • Appropriate Canadian Study Permit
  • Proof of support funding for the period of your stay in Canada (educational and living expenses) 
  • A test of English Language Proficiency which includes a test of written English with minimum scores as follows: 
    • IELTS Academic Test Format: 6.5 overall, 6.5 minimum Writing score and no additional single component less than 6.0
    • TOEFL Internet-based Format: 87 overall with a minimum of 20 in each component
    • COPE: 76 overall with at least 22 in each component and 32 in the writing component
    • MELAB: 85 minimum

Graduate level scores remain a requirement for any continuing education learner hoping to transfer into a graduate degree program.

Application deadlines:

  • November 15 for a January start (Clinical Research Certificate and Single Courses only)
  • March 15 for a May start
  • August 1 for a September start
