Introducing our panelists – Drs. Stephanie Zhou, Alan Monavvari and Shelby Jaeranny

Dr. Stephanie Zhou

Dr. Stephanie Zhou is an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto where she teaches the financial literacy curriculum. She practices Addiction Medicine and is the EDI & Social Accountability Lead at Sunnybrook and the Lead Family Physician at Don Mills FHT. Outside of her clinical work, she is on the Board of Directors for Toronto Public Health and Habitat for Humanity GTA. She also Chairs the Scientific Planning Committee for the Ontario College of Family Physicians.  

Dr. Alan Monavvari

Dr. Alan Monavvari is an Associate Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at University of Toronto since 2017. Currently he is an active staff and former deputy chief at North York General Hospital. He obtained a Master of Science (MHSc) in Health Administration from the University of Toronto in 2006. He is a certified member of Canadian Health Services Executives (CHE) and an international certified member of Professional Healthcare Quality (CPHQ). He served as Chief of Family Medicine and VP Medical at Markham Stouffville Hospital between 2014 to 2020.

Dr. Shelby Jaeranny

Dr. Shelby Jaeranny is a family physician at the Toronto Western FHT and lecturer in the DFCM, University of Toronto. She teaches medical students and residents in both clinical and non-clinical settings. She has a strong interest in primary care, interprofessional teams, social justice, and EDI. Prior to medicine, she studied pharmacy at the University of Waterloo.
