We are looking for locum coverage and/or longer term recruits to join our group. West Parry Sound Health Centre is located at the heart of the 30,000 Islands area of Georgian Bay. One of the fastest-growing and desirable communities in the region, just two hours from Toronto/YYZ via 4-lane highway.
The hospital features 70 acute care beds, an 18-bed ER, a 6-bed ICU, and the usual amenities (lab/blood bank, modern CT scanner, ultrasound, etc...). Friendly surgical team includes multi-talented general surgeons and endoscopy, plus visiting orthopedic surgery, urology, ophthalmology, and dentistry. Great internal medicine support!
Collegial hospitalist group of 16 hospitalists (mostly part-time) currently working with triple coverage (three concurrent lists), covering a 7-day week which runs Monday-Sunday.
We are somewhat flexible on timeframes and dates for locums, and would certainly welcome a new permanent colleague if the fit is good!
Options to add extra work in ER, anesthesia, or family medicine - or simply do a share of the hospitalist work and enjoy your free time to hike, golf, sail, fish, bike, ski, paddle, and explore.
Job Description:
Hospitalists are MRP for all non-obstetric admitted patients outside of the ICU. Admission/holding orders generally completed by the ER physician on behalf of the MRP. Typical census is 22 patients, of which 8-12 are acute, and the remainder are non-acute including ALC, Rehab, Palliative, or chronic medical. Compensation is by hourly rate at $135/h. Additional NSLP funding is available for locums under through the Respite with Honorarium coverage.
One hospitalist works as backup/on call for the week, covering after-hours calls and also provides OR assist and ER backup as needed. This is optional, and is remunerated via HOCC stipend plus fee-for-service, or ER physician hourly rates as applicable.
Hospitalist shifts are a 7 day week from Monday-Sunday.
Required qualifications:
Independent CPSO licence to practice Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
CMPA coverage
Active ACLS Certification encouraged but not required
Length of term: 3-5 +years
Hourly/half-day rate: $135/hr plus NSLP locum with honorarium funding
