Description of Organization: 

The Division of Hospital Medicine is recruiting locum hospitalists to join the team at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, a 477-bed mental health hospital. Hospitalist(s) may rotate to any inpatient unit and the emergency department at CAMH while providing consultant primary care. Compensation is a combined bed stipend and a fee-for-service model. The position is available for a float and ad hoc locum daytime coverage (weekday shifts 8:30am - 4:30pm and weekend shifts 9:00am - 5:00pm). Start date is flexible.

Job description:

Patient care activities will include, but are not limited to:

  1. Assessment, evaluation, diagnostic determination, ongoing treatment and clinical management of acute and chronic medical issues, necessary referral for consultation, care planning and modification, medications/therapeutic orders in close collaboration with attending psychiatrist and allied health team members.
  2. Regular patient contact and care management that actively encourages interprofessional care amongst patient care teams.
  3. Timely completion of all clinical documentation to ensure compliance with hospital policies, College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) standards, and OHIP billing requirements.
  4. Supervise trainees in an academic setting
  5. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required qualifications: 

Education
- CCFP certification. Additional training in Hospital Medicine or Care of the Elderly is desirable but not required.

Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification
- Physician will have an active license in good standing with the CPSO and CMPA in accordance with the Medical Staff Bylaws of the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.

Experience
- Clinical, teaching experience in the community or academic teaching hospitals is desirable.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1. Technical:
- Clinical training and skills as mandated by the CCFP.
2. Non-Technical:
- Ability to work with others in a cooperative, inter-professional and collaborative manner.
- Strong written and oral communication skills
