DFCM is looking for faculty members working in underserved areas and equity-deserving communities to host students for 3 half clinical days. The opportunity will include a stipend of $100 per session for a maximum of $400 (3 clinic dates plus short preceptor training).
The Family Medicine Community Longitudinal Leadership Enrichment Opportunity (FM-CLLEO) runs two slightly different cohorts each year. Summer Term matches EITHER first or second year medical students to community family physicians (1 learner per preceptor). Winter Term matches pairs of second-year medical students and first-year Physician Assistant students with community family physicians (2 learners per preceptor).
During the placement, students are tasked with supporting high priority clinical areas, including diabetes care, immunizations, and cervical cancer screening.
*FYI: all students are required to participate in the prerequisite training session prior to placement.
What is required of faculty preceptors?
Summer Preceptors - Able to take on one medical student for 3 half clinical days (on any day) between June and August.
Winter Preceptors - Able to take on a pair of students, one 2nd year MD student and one 1st year PA student, for 3 half clinical days, (on any Tuesday) between January and March.
Participation in one 30-mins preparation and training session
Choose one high priority clinical area you would like to tackle with your student team around Diabetes, immunizations, and/or cervical cancer screening
Schedule 3 half-days
Provide workspace for students.
Supervise the students in clinic during the recovery catch-up day(s)
Showcase the value of longitudinal and relationship-based comprehensive family medicine.
Create space for reflection after each session (15 minutes of huddle)
